In 1945, the Cold War began as a period of economic, political, and military tension. The Cold War began with the downfall of World War 2. While Hitler was fighting with Poland and Russia. The Cold War lasted for 45 years between the United States and the Soviet Union. They fought mostly about the political stand point, the United States wanted a democracy, and unfortunately the Russians want the complete different decision.
President Harry Truman, fueled the fire by using the atomic bomb as leverage to the war. Truman also issued the “Truman Doctrine” to fund democracy in the third world nations. The United States and USSR never fought each confrontation, but both powers threatened each other using nuclear annihilations. Truman helped the United States with the “Truman Doctrine” it set us off to stand are ground for the United States. When Truman came out with it really made the Soviet Union’s mad because they don’t want the same things for the third world nations.
The western democracies hated the idea off a communist state. The United States refused to the recognition for 16 years until Bolshevik took over. Americans feared the consequences for businesses for business causes of political driven workers. The Americans knew that if they liked the Russians opinion then they would start protesting it could possibly start a bigger and more “cold” of a war, the Americans didn’t want this at all.
Also fighting over Berlin the Russians and the United States. During the fight over communism or democracy this also determined what would happen with Berlin. Berlin was split in between four big groups including Americans, Soviets, Britain and the French. This caused the war to continue on to see who would have the rights over Berlin.
In summary the Cold War was a very long war that started in 1945 to 1991. With the tension of economic, political and military with the United States and the Soviet Unions.
